BODACIOUS

Mixed Breed male, 1.5 years old and a playful 73 pounds

Bodacious is friendly and sweet and loves to be around people. He has an outgoing, playful personality. He’s easy to leash up and enjoys going for walks. Bodacious, like all dogs, would benefit from basic canine training, so ask us about classes in Ukiah. This handsome dog is searching for an active family who will include him on walks and adventures.

SOCKS

**Pittie mix female, 2 years old and 53 ADORABLE pounds. **

Socks is an adorable, delightful, energetic gal with loads of personality. She seems friendly with all people she meets, loves toys, and when introduced to another male K9 at the shelter, was polite and indicated she wanted to play! Socks is a strong dog and will need basic obedience and leash work, but she’s treat motivated and eager to please. Our clinic is currently treating Socks for a skin condition. She is a little itchy, but on the road to recovery! And did we mention how adorable she is???

TEX

Shepherd X? male, 2 years old and 55 pounds.

Tex is happy to meet and greet new people and appears friendly with other dogs. He loves to go for walks but needs a some brush-up on leash training—specifically, to not pull while walking. Tex knows sit and has good indoor manners. This dude is willing and eager to learn—he’s just waiting to find his special someone who will be his new BFF. And to top it off, Tex is one HANDSOME guy!

HEIDI

German Shepherd Dog female, 10 months old and 47 pounds

Heidi is a shy girl who will need an owner with experience handling under-socialized and timid dogs. We think once Heidi is comfortable and confident with her surroundings, she will be a completely different dog—something we have witnessed over the years at the shelter. Heidi is treat motivated, mellow indoors and would probably love a good snuggle session on the couch with her new guardian. Stay tuned for updates as we get to know Heidi.

FREDDY

Lab X NEUTERED male, 7 months old and 50 oh-so-handsome pounds

Our cute little Halloween pup, Freddy, has matured into a very handsome teenager! Freddy's been spending time at the home of the shelter's very own Dog Whisperer, and here’s what he told us: Freddy has a big heart, with lots of enthusiasm. He’s eager to learn and happy to get along. Freddy’s taken to clicker training, and is both treat and praise motivated! This lovely dog has a great off-leash recall. He’s very well socialized with other dogs and hasn't a mean bone in his body. He's low maintenance and quite happy just to be on a deck in the sunshine, or along for a walk in nature.

FROGGY

Male, Pit/ Bulldog mix, 2 years old and 63 pounds

Froggy is a big, fun guy with lots of energy! This lug loves toys, water and long walks- though he does pull a little on leash. Froggy will need basic obedience, daily exercise and leash training to ensure he is the BEST boy in his new home. Due to his high energy, we recommend older children. Froggy also has a bit of a pray drive, so no small animals for this guy.

ROMEO

Mixed breed male, 8 months old and 48 adorable pounds

Romeo is a typical, happy go-lucky, young dog. He loves to play with toys and was eager to meet another dog during his behavior evaluation. Romeo will need to learn doggie manners and would definitely benefit from basic obedience and leash training. (Ask us about canine classes in the Ukiah area) This handsome guy would make a great addition to any family.

**2/5/25 Update! ** Romeo has been in a foster home for the last few months, having the best time! He is currently living with 3 dogs, and we think would love another k9 friend in his new home. Here is what his foster mom had to say about Romeo.... "Romeo is crate trained. He rarely barks. He gets along with my other three large dogs. He loves people and is fine around small children. He is often torn between getting scratches from me and playing tug of war with my Border Collie, running back and forth between us. He gets along better with the Border Collie than my other dogs do. He is very sweet and gentle. I can put my hands all over him and take food out of his mouth. He is willing to work for treats, and he's eager to please. I LOVE this boy. I wish I could adopt him!"

BUBBA

Pittie mix, male, 2 years old and 90 happy pounds.

Bubba is a super happy, bowling ball-in-a-china-shop-guy! He loves to meet new people and was very excited when introduced to a fellow shelter dog. Bubba is strong and energetic. He knows sit but will need some leash work and basic obedience. Bubba has a bit of a prey drive and will need a home without small animals. Another canine roommate/friend would be awesome!

JOHN

Lab mix neutered male, 1 year old,50 pounds!

John is a typical happy, lively pup, and would make a great addition to an active family. Like all young dogs, he will need lots of patience, training, and attention to become a well behaved member of the pack, and a good canine citizen! John will most likely be a large breed dog as an adult.

CHERRY

Mixed Breed female, 10 months old and 46 sweet pounds.

How 'bout some photos of delightul CHERRY! Here she is out and about with one of our wonderful volunteers!

Cherry can be a little shy with new people, but is very sweet as well. Cherry will do best with a guardian who has the time and experience to work with a shy dog, helping her to build up confidence. We don’t think it will take long for Cherry to become a confident, secure companion, ready to be your best buddy.

PACINO

Mixed Breed male, 1 year old and 57 handsome pounds

PACINO UPDATE! Mr. Pacino went on a Fido Field Trip with one of our volunteers! Here what she told us: Pacino is such a sweetheart. He appears to be potty trained. He loved the car ride, and loves his toys! Pacino really likes men, and he’s a lover. He's a typical bulldog and can be stubborn if he doesn’t want to go where you want him to— he thinks he is calling the shots! Pacino has a high prey drive and it would take some time and patience for him to get used to a kitty. He is a doll and he’s smart.

Pacino was brought to the shelter by an Animal Protection officer. You can see that he has lots of scars that look like he was in a dog fight. We found Pacino to be very friendly and outgoing with people. With other dogs he was not reactive but also not trusting. Pacino will have to meet any potential dog housemates. Pacino walks nicely on leash and enjoys going for walks.

BROOKS

Mixed Breed male, 1 year old and 96 pretty adorable pounds!

**UPDATE FROM CASA DE LAURA! Brooks is currently being fostered by the one and only Laura! Here's what she told us about Brooks: ** Brooks is a 2 year old Dog Argention who was found as a stray with his brother in November, 2023. He stayed in the shelter until July 12, 2024 when he came to foster care. Typical of the breed, he’s a big boy, weighing in at 95 lbs. These dogs were bred for hunting, and don’t usually do well with smaller animals, or same sex dogs.

BROOKS

  • Is crate trained

  • Housebroken

  • Knows basic obedience: sit, down, wait, walks ok on leash
  • Catches treats in the air, knows shake
  • Sits at the door before going out/coming in

BROOKS enjoys playing with female dogs and toys. He has his favorite ducky that he throws in the air and chases after. Typical of the breed, he has sensitive skin, and is allergic to chicken, straw, and grass. He is on a salmon based kibble, and gets a bath with medicated shampoo weekly, and is also on benedryl, all which keep the allergy under control. Brooks a very sweet guy, who loves human attention, and has many volunteer friends from the shelter who he likes to visit there. Knowledge of the breed, and big dog experience preferred. The best home for him is one that has a female who he can play with, no other pets, and older children. Dogos are active dogs, and need plenty of exercise. They are not backyard dogs.

Brooks is worried meeting new people, but he quickly warms up with a few treats. Brooks shows some interest in toys but he’s not real sure what they are all about! Brooks is easy to leash up and he enjoys going for walks. Our wonderful volunteer, Angela, told us that Brooks walks GREAT on-leash! We are recommending older kids in Brooks’ new home, just because he can be a little shy. Brooks would probably enjoy a female canine friend. but a meet and greet with any dog is a must.
