Fluffy Little Dog, female, 2 years old and 12 ADORABLE pounds!
CUTENESS ALERT! Veronica is a very happy and social girl. When she’s in the Meet & Greet room, she likes to say hi to everyone who comes through the door! Veronica is great walking on- leash and sure enjoys getting out in the wild blue yonder. Feeling the chill these days? Not to worry—Veronica would like to cuddle up on the couch with you (and maybe a bowl of popcorn) and watch a good movie on these cold, rainy days.
Doberman female puppy, 6 months old and 37 pounds.
Eve is a very inquisitive, young dog. Although she can be a bit shy, she is very sweet, and does well with people. More exposure to new and different places, people, experiences, pets, and surroundings will be a great way for her to gain confidence. Eve will need gentle and consistent training with lots and lots of TLC to mature into a well loved member of her new pack. This girl is eager to learn and be your BFF. And did we mention she is ADORABLE??!
Akita mix female, 7 months old and 40 pounds—as of October 10
Puff is a friendly, happy gal! She loves attention and seems to be playful with other dogs. Puff came in with an injury to one of her back legs. Our vets looked her over and found it is an old injury that has healed, and is not in pain, but she will walk with a bit of a limp. Puff is happy with short walks. Puff was a blast to have in the Meet & Greet room, where we enjoyed watching her play with her toys, flipping them in the air and attempting to fit them all in her mouth at once! She will make an awesome family pet!
**German Shepherd Dog mix female, 6 months old and 46 pounds. **
Gretel is a supper sweet pup! She loves to cuddle and is eager to please. Gretel had a blast playing with toys during her evaluation. Gretel came to the shelter with a dog friend, so she may be ok living with a canine housemate. German Shepherd Dogs are very smart and loyal, and with training, they make wonderful companions!
Great Pyrenees? female, 6 years old and 58 lovely pounds
Elle is a happy and social dog who enjoys the company of people and is quick to seek out attention. She’s easy to walk on-leash and enjoys getting out and about for adventures. Elle will need daily exercise and lots of time with her new family. SECURE FENCING is a must. Elle seems to prefer being outside rather than inside, but is mellow indoors and likes to be close to people.
German Shepherd Dog SPAYED female, 7 years old and 103 pounds
Beautiful Bella is a gentle giant. Bella is not your typical Shepherd—she’s not high-strung or high energy. She's shy girl, however, and will need a guardian who understands shy dogs. Bella was brought to the Shelter when her guardian began having health issues. Bella is calm and loving, enjoys car rides, and she is cautious with new people and dogs. We think Bella would be the perfect companion in a quiet home, with a guardian who is home most of the time and looking for a best friend. Pictures do not do this dog justice…she is a stunner.
**Pittie mix female, 2 years old and 53 ADORABLE pounds. **
Socks is an adorable, delightful, energetic gal with loads of personality. She seems friendly with all people she meets, loves toys, and when introduced to another male K9 at the shelter, was polite and indicated she wanted to play! Socks is a strong dog and will need basic obedience and leash work, but she’s treat motivated and eager to please. Our clinic is currently treating Socks for a skin condition. She is a little itchy, but on the road to recovery! And did we mention how adorable she is???
Pyrenees? Pyrenees mix? female, 8 years old and 74 beautiful pounds
Bea really enjoys going for walks and being outside, and she’s very mellow inside! Bea can be a little nervous meeting new people. but give her a few minutes and she warms right up. Bea would like a large yard where she can laze about in the sun, and also be on patrol! Bea tested positive for Heartworm and the clinic has begun treatment, which means no heavy exercise for 6 weeks.
Mixed Breed SPAYED female, 5 years old and a mellow and sweet 60 pounds
Our intrepid volunteer, Janette, told us recently that Poppy has become so much less shy! Plus, she's a good girl on-leash. Yay! Thanks to the work of the shelter's volunteers, who make a difference for our dog and cat guests every day! Here's a few photos of Polly out in the great beyond!
Poppy was a little bit shy—but very sweet during her evaluation. It doesn’t take her long to warm up, and then she’s your best friend! Poppy is mellow inside and easy to walk on leash. Poppy came to the shelter with her canine friend, Rocky, but right now she seems unsure of the other dogs at the Shelter. Poppy would like to meet any potential doggie housemates in her new home.
German Shepherd Dog female, 10 months old and 47 pounds
Heidi is a shy girl who will need an owner with experience handling under-socialized and timid dogs. We think once Heidi is comfortable and confident with her surroundings, she will be a completely different dog—something we have witnessed over the years at the shelter. Heidi is treat motivated, mellow indoors and would probably love a good snuggle session on the couch with her new guardian. Stay tuned for updates as we get to know Heidi.

UPDATE: Our Dog Whisperer volunteer, Jon, has been spending time with Wiggles--lucky girl! Here's what Jon told us: Wiggles is dubious dobie, in that although unmistakably in part, she is likely mixed with something merle, such as Heeler. I have gone to visit her every day this week, and she’s a dreamboat. Very shy at first-the way she copes is to wag with full fury—-but warms up in a short time. This sweetheart is very affectionate and affiliative. So eager to be friends and make a good impression, she would be very easy to train." Don't wait another minute--get in your vehicle and come meet this wonderful dog! Wiggles is spayed, so she's ready to trot out the shelter doors and wiggle right into your heart! And THANK YOU, JON, for your unending dedication!
Wiggles is an action-packed, fun dog who would do best in an active home. Wiggles knows how to walk on leash and enjoys getting out to explore, meet people and other dogs, and learn about new and different surroundings. Wiggles will need introductions to any potential canine housemates, as she can be barkey when meeting a new dog.
Herding Dog female, 2 years old and 54 stunning pounds.
Sky is a sweet dog who is a bit overwhelmed being a guest at the shelter. She’s shy but wants to connect with people. Sky is easy to walk on leash and enjoys being outside. She has good indoor manners and settles nicely. This delightful young girl likes to cuddle up with her toys surrounding her…when she’s not carrying them all around! Sky might enjoy various canine activities like obedience or agility.
