Male 2 year old goat
We’re figuring Goatee is about 2 years old. We don’t have much more to tell you other than he’s a very handsome guy, because Goatee doesn’t go for walks and spurns tennis balls and stuffie toys.

German Shepherd Dog SPAYED female, 7 years old and 103 pounds
Beautiful Bella is a gentle giant. Bella is not your typical Shepherd—she’s not high-strung or high energy. She's shy girl, however, and will need a guardian who understands shy dogs. Bella was brought to the Shelter when her guardian began having health issues. Bella is calm and loving, enjoys car rides, and she is cautious with new people and dogs. We think Bella would be the perfect companion in a quiet home, with a guardian who is home most of the time and looking for a best friend. Pictures do not do this dog justice…she is a stunner.
Mixed Breed male, 2 years old and 40 VERY handsome pounds
Jay is worried meeting new people but warms up after a few treats. He walks great on leash and really enjoys getting out in the wild blue yonder. Jay knows sit and down and he’s eager to learn new tricks. This dude will do anything for a treat, and that will help with his training. Because Jay can be a little standoffish, we are recommending older kids in his new home. Jay has excellent indoor manners and loves to sit on the couch with you. Jay would probably like a female canine friend/housemate. And those eyes!! Whoa!
Husky/Akita? male, 2 years old and 84 HANDSOME pounds.
Eric is a happy and social dog who enjoys the company of people and is quick to seek out attention. Eric enjoys playing with toys and getting out and about for long walks and adventures with his human. As a bonus, this guy has great leash manners! Eric has a good start on basic training and he already knows sit, down and shake! Eric has a very playful attitude and he’s like a big ol’ playful puppy…with the accent on big!
Bulldog mix male, 8 years young and 47 adorable pounds
Bernard is looking for a quiet home where he can spend his golden years being loved, sleeping on a soft doggie bed (or yours…he’s willing to share…) and soak up the sun, listen to the birds…. Bernard is mellow indoors, loves toys, treats, and naps! Due to food guarding with other dogs, he will need to be the only pet in the home.
There are so many reasons to adopt a senior dog—compared to their youthful counterparts, older dogs tend to be more relaxed and less energetic. They're often less reactive and more content with simple pleasures like a leisurely walk or a nap in a sunny spot. This isn’t just about diminished physical energy; it also points to a mental shift toward a more laid-back approach to life!
Predictability is one of the major benefits of caring for an older dog. By this stage in their lives, their personality is well-formed. You'll get an immediate understanding of their likes, dislikes, quirks, and habits. This predictability makes it easier to find a dog that matches your lifestyle and household. There’s lots of information about adopting senior dogs online.

Socks is an adorable, delightful, energetic gal with loads of personality. She seems friendly with all people she meets, loves toys, and when introduced to another male K9 at the shelter, was polite and indicated she wanted to play! Socks is a strong dog and will need basic obedience and leash work, but she’s treat motivated and eager to please. Our clinic is currently treating Socks for a skin condition. She is a little itchy, but on the road to recovery! And did we mention how adorable she is???

Gramps is an older dude looking for a soft, quiet, and loving home where he can spend his golden years. Gramps takes a little time to get used to new people, but can be won over by some tasty treats! Gramps enjoys little walks and is mellow indoors. We think he would prefer a home without young children. There are many reasons to adopt an older dog, and lots of website info. Bea really enjoys going for walks and being outside, and she’s very mellow inside! Bea can be a little nervous meeting new people. but give her a few minutes and she warms right up. Bea would like a large yard where she can laze about in the sun, and also be on patrol! Bea tested positive for Heartworm and the clinic has begun treatment, which means no heavy exercise for 6 weeks.

Our intrepid volunteer, Janette, told us recently that Poppy has become so much less shy! Plus, she's a good girl on-leash. Yay! Thanks to the work of the shelter's volunteers, who make a difference for our dog and cat guests every day! Here's a few photos of Polly out in the great beyond!
Poppy was a little bit shy—but very sweet during her evaluation. It doesn’t take her long to warm up, and then she’s your best friend! Poppy is mellow inside and easy to walk on leash. Poppy came to the shelter with her canine friend, Rocky, but right now she seems unsure of the other dogs at the Shelter. Poppy would like to meet any potential doggie housemates in her new home.

Tex is happy to meet and greet new people and appears friendly with other dogs. He loves to go for walks but needs a some brush-up on leash training—specifically, to not pull while walking. Tex knows sit and has good indoor manners. This dude is willing and eager to learn—he’s just waiting to find his special someone who will be his new BFF. And to top it off, Tex is one HANDSOME guy!
